Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how D.J.J. Watson, trading as DJW Digital Enterprise (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit djjwatson.com (the “Site”).

What information we collect

Information you provide directly: When you subscribe to our email list (the Legion), we collect your name and email address through the opt-in forms on this Site. You provide this information voluntarily.

Information collected automatically: When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring URL. This is collected through cookies and similar tracking technologies, as described below.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Send you the free content you requested (e.g., e-books, audiobooks) when you subscribe
  • Send you email newsletters, updates about new releases, and occasional promotional offers
  • Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it
  • Measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns
  • Comply with legal obligations

Email marketing

We use Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to manage our email list and send newsletters. When you subscribe, your name and email address are stored on Kit’s servers. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. Kit’s privacy policy is available at https://kit.com/privacy.

Analytics and tracking

Google Analytics 4: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the Site — which pages are visited, how long people stay, and how they found us. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this data in aggregate. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors. Google’s privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Meta Pixel and Conversions API: We use Meta’s (Facebook’s) tracking tools to measure the effectiveness of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. The Meta Pixel collects data about your visit, including pages viewed and actions taken (such as subscribing to our email list). This data is sent to Meta to help us understand which ads are working and to show relevant ads to people who may be interested in our books. We also use the Conversions API, which sends event data server-side for more accurate measurement. Meta’s privacy policy is available at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Advanced Matching: With your consent (managed through our cookie consent banner), we may share hashed (encrypted) email data with Meta to improve ad attribution. This data is one-way encrypted before transmission and cannot be reverse-engineered.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file stored on your device when you visit a website. We use the following types of cookies:

Essential cookies: Required for the Site to function. These include session cookies and the cookie we set when you interact with our opt-in form, so you are not shown the same offer repeatedly. These cannot be disabled.

Analytics cookies: Used by Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data. These help us understand which content is popular and how visitors navigate the Site.

Advertising cookies: Used by the Meta Pixel to track conversions and enable targeted advertising on Facebook and Instagram.

You can manage your cookie preferences through the cookie consent banner displayed when you first visit the Site. You can also change your preferences at any time through your browser settings. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies will not affect your ability to use the Site.

Third-party services

We share your data with the following third-party services, solely for the purposes described above:

  • Kit (email marketing) — stores subscriber name and email
  • Google Analytics (website analytics) — receives anonymised browsing data
  • Meta / Facebook (advertising) — receives pixel event data and, with consent, hashed email data
  • Hostinger (web hosting) — hosts the Site and processes server requests

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Data retention

Email subscribers: We retain your name and email address for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your data is removed from our active mailing list. Kit may retain some data for a limited period for compliance purposes.

Analytics data: Google Analytics retains data for 14 months by default. Meta retains event data in accordance with its own data retention policies.

Cookies: See the cookie descriptions above for individual expiry periods.
