If it isn’t Ukraine bombing a third of Putin’s bombing fleet, it’s Russia destroying residential buildings in Kyiv. And before anyone is tempted to scribble me a reply with all the other atrocities I’ve skimped on…

I’m merely a fiction author who enjoys talking about whatever has piqued my interest on a given day and then somehow turning my musings into a shameless sales pitch, so let’s not upset tradition, eh?
So why would the two leaders of these countries benefit from the latest sequel of The Divided Region?
Simple:
It shows the dangers prolonged war can do to their nations if a threat far greater than themselves were to ever loom.
This threat could be China, the EU, the US, or some combination of all of them.
But The Great Betrayal also demonstrates the power having a common enemy can have on warring nations.
Years of conflict can be quashed, unions can form, military might can be combined, and looming shadows can be vanquished. However, just because such alliances can happen doesn’t mean they do.
For wherever there is mankind, there is ego.
And where there is ego, there is complacency.
And where there is complacency, there is negligence.
And where there is negligence, destruction isn’t usually too far behind.
This mortal shortcoming doesn’t just blotch our own world, it also mars The Divided Region. Plagued by centuries of war and treachery that only Man can do to one another, Estos has remained in a deadlock for nine agonising centuries.
That was until The Great Betrayal.
When darkness strikes the heart of Vlencia, Darius can already hear the war horns of Kaudon. He knows he must do what no king in centuries has ever done and form an alliance that Estos hasn’t seen in a thousand years.
