Why I didn’t run any Black Friday deals

Unless you live off-grid and don’t access the internet at all — in which case, how the hell did you stumble into this lowly dwelling of ours? — you’ll know we’ve just passed one of the biggest promotional periods of the year.

And you would have noticed your Overlord & Saviour didn’t run any special promotions.

No 50% discounts.

No money-off codes.

No limited-time “grab it while you can” flash sales.

And there are a few very good reasons for that.

First…

I prefer to zig when everyone else zags.

When inboxes are flooded with discounts, deals, and bundles, I’d rather just… not.

Instead, I like to continue sharing interesting (and sometimes questionable) musings, tell stories like the one in my last email, and be the calm voice in a sea of noise.

I mean, why blend in when I can stand out?

Second…

From an economic standpoint, I don’t see the value in slashing the prices of a growing catalogue that is — in my opinion — already priced reasonably.

E-books, at best, will sell for no more than $9.99.

Which is a pittance when you factor in how many months (and in some cases, years) of daily effort can go into just one book.

Third (and most important)…

I don’t want to train Legionnaires to wait for Black Friday, Christmas, Prime Day, or whatever the next global shopping circus is before supporting my work.

That doesn’t mean I don’t run sales.

It just means I do them on my terms.

That might be in the form of a birthday celebration or commemorating a troll who took a shot at the king and missed.

Yes…

I can already see the sneers, hear the gasps, and taste the anger from my dissenters.

“You’re one arrogant sod, Mr Watson.”

Why yes, I am.

“Not everyone has $9.99 to fork out on a book in this economy.” (pauses to sip their $7 Starbucks latte)

So don’t.

“Grr, you’re a real smartass, you know that?!”

Love you, too, boo. 😘

Anyway, hyperbolic conflicts aside, those are the reasons I didn’t run any sales on Black Friday or Cyber Monday this year (and probably never will — though, nobody can predict the future, not even yours truly).

And it’s highly unlikely I’ll run anything for Christmas either (see point #1).

Instead, I’ll continue to flog my already well-priced wares that promise several hours of fun, escapism, and adventure for those who seek it.

More:

I will also continue to craft offers that honour my effort and resemble great value for money for those willing to support my work directly.

Aka, those willing to buy through my Storehouse.

That’s why I put together an e-book and audiobook bundle of The Divided Region that not only includes Books 1-4 of the series thus far but also the digital world art and lore e-book at a healthy discount.

So if you’re ready to dive headfirst into this gritty fantasy adventure, then here’s where you can go:
