You may or may not have heard about yesterday's global outage that affected tonnes of companies, including Snapchat, United Airlines, and yes, even the mighty Amazon.
Irony is, it was their own servers that failed them.
As you can imagine, this sparked widespread pandemonium, with its waves of chaos reaching the quiet lagoons of fiction writers, which I occasionally haunt.
It meant authors couldn’t upload new titles.
Nor flog pre-existing ones.
Truly a concerning time for many, except for one person…
ME.
Unlike 90% of authors who exclusively sell through Amazon, my Storehouse's cash register kept singing my name despite many of my peers only hearing the death bell.
I don’t say this to gloat.
(Alright, maybe a wee bit.)
But to remind myself that those months of time, energy, and coin that went into erecting my very own bazaar were entirely worth it. I suspect some of my author friends who also made the same wise decision share that reflection.
And this, my dear disciple, is good news for you.
It means you can still buy my wares should your favourite retailer befall you.
It means hotly anticipated releases will not be compromised.
In other words:
THE SHOW CARRIES ON
I don’t know about you, Legionnaire, but I say we’ve long granted these tech giants too much amnesty, only for them to get hacked, lose our data, or incur widespread outages.
… All results that could be attributed to their obsession with growth and appeasing their shareholders while simultaneously neglecting the very people that launched them to power and obscene wealth:
Their customers.
I say it’s high time we change that.
And you can help rebalance this power by simply supporting your favourite authors and creators directly.
Which brings me to the rub of this email…
I did mention I have a Storehouse already, right? 😉
Well, in case I didn’t, here’s where you can shop my wares without fear of an outage occurring whilst you’re checking out:
