The other day, while working away in my writer's cave, my WhatsApp pinged.
It was Lady Laura.
There was no message, just a photo.
To my bemusement, it was a picture of a crow perched on a branch in front of the house. I replied with a series of question marks, to which Laura followed up with, "Do you not see the resemblance?"
Me: "Between what?"
Laura: "The crow on your Sticks & Stones cover, duh!"
She immediately sent another image, this time showing a side-by-side shot of the cover and the crow in question:
Me: "Ah!"
Laura: "Finally."
I must cede, I've got a gooden' in Lady Laura. She's something of an unsung hero here at the Legion, and while, yes, she features in a number of my emails, she's also a great contributor behind the scenes.
Not only does she proofread 99% of my broadcasts before they're shipped out to Legionnaires, but she's also proven herself a capable source of good ideas.
If anything crazy/annoying/funny/unfortunate happens in our lives, she's quick to suggest turning it into an email.
What a woman!
Given Mother’s Day is almost upon us here in the UK, it’s only fitting to praise her for her contributions not only here at Watson HQ, but the Legion, too.
(No doubt her cheeks will fluster reading this.)
