Lady Laura recently told me a story that she happened across that can only be described as…
The most devastatingly awkward funeral ever.
Basically, some poor lady died and, as per our customs, her husband — along with her family — organised her funeral. Fast forward to the day, and mourners from far and wide showed up to honour this lady, including people who didn’t receive an invite.
Co-workers and the likes.
As her husband stood at the door to meet and greet everyone, along came this chap, whom he didn’t recognise. Naturally, he extended his hand to welcome the man, asking how he knew his wife.
The guy then froze.
After several seconds of stunned silence, the chap revealed the woman was his girlfriend.
TALK ABOUT HORRIFIC.
"What would you do if that happened to you?" Laura asked me with a mischievous grin.
"That your ‘bit on the side’ turned up to your funeral?"
She nodded.
I thought about it for a second and shrugged. "Well, at least I'd get to split the bill."
Know what else I’d say?
“I don’t suppose you enjoy gritty epic fantasy novels without dragons, dozens of POV characters, and meandering chapters that serve only to stroke the ego of the author?”
If he said no, I’d simply send him the invoice for the funeral.
If he nodded, I’d point him here:
