It's that time of year when people start gearing up to jet off on holiday, and inevitably, a lot of them will be flying.
(Assuming jet fuel doesn't cost you both kidneys.)
And it got me ruminating on how strange airports are.
Think about it:
On one piece of levelled land, you've got travellers descending on these hubs in flying metal tins from every corner of the globe. Inside the terminals, you've got eager parents impatiently waiting for their children to appear through the gates after months abroad.
Long-distance lovers embracing after far too long apart.
Tipsy stag-doers, hen-goers, and soon-to-be newlyweds.
And on the other side of the coin, you've got eager souls who take off for the bright blue skies only to never come back home.
Airports truly are a microcosm, brimming with hundreds of thousands of untold stories that bounce on and off the tarmac every day.
Aside from hospitals, I cannot think of another place like it.
Or maybe, just maybe, I need to power down this screen and touch some grass for a while.

In any case, while you won't find Heathrow or JFK hiding among the pages of Book 6, you will find a string of action-packed events that will not only leave you breathless — but set the stage for the ultimate showdown in Book 7.
And what a showdown it promises to be!
Now's as good a time as any to refresh yourself with the storyline that currently spans five fast-paced, bingeable books.
And if you haven't read — or listened — to them yet?
Fret not, my dear disciple.
