Long-time readers of mine will know I’ve got something of a morbid fascination with crocodiles.
Particularly the big, gnarly ones like the Nile and Salties.
So, it doesn’t take a Mark Zuckerberg to imagine what my Facebook feed looks like. And if you do, well, just know that between every written post, there’s a safari video of one of these beasts taking down unsuspecting prey by the water’s edge.
However, a couple of days ago, that changed.
The tables turned… on the croc.
I had to rub my eyes when I read the caption because it simply wasn’t computing. It read:
“The Crocodile a Elephant stood on”
Now, in case your mind is conjuring up visions of gore and blood, there was none of that, thankfully. In fact, at first glance, you might have suspected the big guy was asleep in its shallow patch of murky water.
(Though it was a different kind of slumber.)
That is, until you spot the large cratered impression on its back.
Was it sick?
Old?
Too slow to get out of the way?
I guess we will never know.
What I do know is the African plains are a wee bit safer for anything on four legs now that this fully grown Nile isn’t menacing the embankments.
For now, at least.
Anyway, always quick to spot a pun, I couldn’t help but plug it into the comments, and the last time I checked, it had accrued some 250 reactions and a slew of friend requests, which I promptly declined whilst emitting a low growl.
(The audacity of some people!)
That pun?
“The elephant must have mistaken it for its crocs…”
Ba-dum tss! 🥁
What do you reckon, good, bad, fugly?
Or is it the one pun to rule them all?
Let me know.
