The Great Betrayal FAQs

As it’s the day after The Great Betrayal’s release, I figured, let’s focus this week’s #AskWatson on addressing some questions you may or may not have about it.

If you’re yet to bag yourself a digital copy of Book #5 of The Divided Region, you can make good of that mistake here: 😉

Question #1: Is the audiobook version available?

Answer: Unfortunately, not. I worked my tail off to make it happen, but the production of my other books is taking way longer than I anticipated. Fret not, it’s coming.

Question #2: Will it come out in paperback?

Answer: Yes, it will. I love digital, but it’s getting to the stage where my bookshelf is looking awfully sad without my work adorning it. So that is next on my to-do list once the audiobooks are done.

Question #3: Why not release The Great Betrayal on every platform at the same time?

Answer: Long-time Legionnaires will know I have a Storehouse-first mentality. While I’m eternally grateful to Amazon for paving the way for self-published authors, their service in recent years has left a lot to be desired. Besides the copious horror stories of account shutdowns and increasing difficulty in gaining visibility, I just like the creative control and peace of mind my direct store offers.

Question #4: I’m SO used to the ease of Amazon. How does buying a book through you compare?

Answer: Surprisingly easy. At the moment, I only sell digital versions of my books (that will be changing as per Question #2), and getting e-books onto your Kindle (or any other e-reader for that matter) is a breeze. Simply:

  1. Purchase the e-book
  2. Click the download link from BookFunnel (my distributors) via email
  3. Send to your preferred reading device and in a couple of seconds, it will be there in your library.

As for the audiobooks — similar to Audible, you’ll have to download BookFunnel to access your audiobook purchase. You’ll also be able to read any e-books you purchased from me (or any other author) directly should you prefer to read while on the go.

I can’t speak for the process around paperbacks yet, as I haven’t heard amazing things about the current stock of Print-On-Demand services. It seems the main problems centre around shipping times, which, if you’re an Amazon customer who’s used to same-day and next-day deliveries… waiting 5-7 days for an order might be somewhat of a turn-off.

Question #5: When will you be writing the next book?

Answer: Jeez! You haven’t even finished The Great Betrayal and you’re already asking about the next book?! Alright, perhaps you’re not actually asking this as it’s 100% made-up, but IF you do have this question floating around in your head, then let me answer it by saying:

NOT YET.

After every release, I like to savour the moment for a day or two before turning my focus onto the next project.

Besides, I’ve still got audiobooks to produce… emails to write… social media posts to post… sleep to chase… and nappies to change.

BUT…

That doesn’t mean I haven’t already got several ideas of what’s going to happen in my noggin. 😜

If I answered any questions you may or may not have had, fantastic. If I haven’t? Feel free to write in your q’s and I’ll do my best to answer them.

And if you don’t have any questions?

Then I have a new fantasy novel you can escape to right here:
