Well, what do you know?
It's Friday again.
Which also marks the end of Week 40 of the year (yes, I really did just Google that).
Admittedly, this one has felt a little longer than the others, perhaps in part due to only sending three emails this week. And while I miss my daily missives terribly, it is helping to get this draft over the line.
That said, while there has been a change in the frequency of these musings, it hasn't changed the musings themselves.
Which means…
It's still FUN FACT FRIDAY!
And given how I gave Legionnaires the rare opportunity to get their smooth little mitts on the rough draft of Book 7's Chapter One (subsequently blowing up my inbox, by the way – why oh why did I not just paste a link in the email instead?!)…
I thought it would be a mighty fine idea to share five fun facts about the upcoming — and final — sequel.
Starting with:
Did you know…
There will be seven point-of-view characters? Darius carries most of the book as you'd expect, but you'll also spend time in six other heads.
(I'm starting to believe Laura's claims that I suffer from split personality disorder.)
Did you know…
It comes full circle? The series began with a young Darius being judged by Alastar in a training yard. Book 7 opens with that same boy, now a king, writing to Alastar at the worst moment of his reign.
(I've always been a sucker for a good opening and closing image.)
Did you know…
You'll see the Dark Lord in the flesh? Vraqor appears in person in this novel – not through a scrying pool or through one of his servants, but himself.
(Sauron, step aside. There's a new dark lord in town.)
Did you know…
There is something bigger than a groknath? Yes, really. Remember how much damage one of these trolls did at the Wall in Among Wolves?
(Well, meet the creature they were bred down from.)
Did you know…
For the first time, a new kingdom (or two) will enter the story?
(I shall say no more.)
And say no more I shall!
What I will say, though — and quite loudly too — is that the one thing that's keeping my fingers on the keys and my retinas zapped by the screen isn't just the horde of fans borderline assaulting my inbox for its release.
It's the productivity drink…
Neutonic.
Tropical Ice remains my favourite, but their other flavours still punch above their weight.
I suspect most of you will pass on this sugar-free beverage, which is fine. But to the few who have numbers to crunch, words to write, or deadlines looming over you like Freddy Krueger in a torn pink dress…
I cannot recommend them enough.
Each can is loaded with natural caffeine, B vitamins, and a nootropic blend that hones focus without giving you the dreaded shakes.
