I woke up groggily this morning with a dull ache in my right ear.
Like the hardened leader I am, I chugged down two painkillers, burned some incense candles, and took a deep breath before switching my phone on. There, I waited for a chorus of pings to light up the screen, and sure enough, it did.
Among the sea of emails flooding my inbox was one that stood out like a pig at a sausage festival.
It was short, blunt, and reeked of entitlement.
(A trait I very much detest.)
Did I mention incomplete?
Take a gander:
When is part 2 of the one true king
This reader is referring to the ad-laden, drip-fed audiobook chunks I’ve been gradually pushing out to YouTube for anti-piracy reasons, but what annoys me most here isn’t the poor grammar, but rather the detail you CANNOT see.
This reply came to the email that announced the birth of our second son, Nathan (kneel and pledge your fealty if you haven’t already!).
Now, I’m not precious enough to expect everyone to send Lady Laura and me a box of chocolates and the finest spirit our livers can handle.
But to not even open with a “Hi” or a passing congratulations?
Only: “wHeN iS pArT 2 oF tHe OnE tRuE kInG.”
(I mean, at least put a bloody question mark at the end of your question!)
I can only assume they didn’t bother reading the email I sent, as my mind cannot conceive someone being this blatantly rude. And after a quick check-up on my Storehouse database, my suspicions were confirmed:
This individual hasn’t shelled a single coin on my wares.
This usually isn’t a problem, for some folks need a little more convincing or are simply not ready to buy yet.
Perfectly fine.
What is a problem, however, is when folks are guzzling down my stuff for free elsewhere (albeit at the cost of ads and wait times) and then have the brass balls to demand more.
NOT HOW IT WORKS, SUNSHINE.
Not here at least.
The stuff I’m putting out to YouTube is staggered… incomplete… and loaded with enough self-righteous promotions (with more on the way in the form of YT monetisation) that would make the NFL Superbowl seem like an ad-free watch.
And guess what?
That’s how I choose it to be.
I have precisely ZERO obligations to do otherwise.
If I decide not to upload the next part for several weeks, I can. If I decide to stop uploading altogether, I can. Or (gasp), if I choose to take down all of my videos, I can do that too.
To do otherwise would be a huge disservice to my Patrons.
Anyway, beyond trying to convince you that I’m a humble, tolerable, peace-loving man, what I’m saying is there’s a very simple solution for people itching for the next part of One True King:
Exercise patience and don’t be rude.
OR…
Blow the cobwebs from your wallet and buy the full, ad-free audiobook here:

Alas, for this ex-Legionnaire, buying the audiobook (or any other book for that matter) is no longer an option as I have also permanently blocked them from my Storehouse.
They have also been banned from ever re-entering our little enclave.
Yes, my banhammer shows no mercy, but luckily, it isn’t often I have to yank it from its glass encasement.
