Unless you’ve been vacationing in the sticks this past week, the news has been dominated by Trump's tariff scheme, which has hit every country in the world (including an island home only to penguins from what I hear).
Needless to say, it's had quite the impact.
Jobs are being cut…
Prices for certain products are soaring…
And stock markets are haemorrhaging more than a guy on a diet of bricks.
The UK wasn't spared in this economic onslaught either. No, good ol' Britannia has been slapped with a tariff on goods exported to America (and a further 25% on cars), though there is a measure of relief that it is only 10%.
But still, that 10% will hit the wallets of many.
That's why I am forced to announce (regretfully) that as of today, for all my customers in the US, there will be a price rise on the following products:
… ABSOLUTELY NONE BECAUSE I SELL ONLY DIGITAL PRODUCTS FOR NOW.
There's every chance this email could bite back with a vengeance if Trump decides to include digital goods, in which case, I'll have no choice but to send a battalion of my finest Legionnaires to the White House to demand an immediate reversal of such policies.
However, something in my crooked heart tells me it won’t come to that.
I reckon we’ll be fine. 🤞
Though, if I were selling paperbacks, hardbacks, and any physical merch, then the tune of this email would be much more solemn, for not even the Legion is immune from government interference.
I'd be forced to put on my finest top hat and convince you of the thousands of trees you could be sparing if you simply bought e-books and audiobooks.
And the turtles! Don’t forget about the turtles!
You wouldn’t want the oceans to become awash with so many book spines that they choke on them, right?
(Am I doing a good job at selling you yet? 😬)
Ah, blow this sales spiel. Who am I to lecture you?
I'M NOT YOUR MOTHER.
I am your Overlord and Saviour, and ‘saving’ is what I do best, whether it's from mainstream narratives like “going green” or writing fantasy books that help people escape the noise and mundanity of everyday life.
I’m often asked why I write gritty fantasy, and my answer usually revolves around this:
Like our own world, these fictional realms aren't as black and white as folks wish they were, and it’s fun to explore that.
It's all greyscale at the end of the day.
People can do crappy things without being crappy people…
Justice and injustices can coexist alongside each other…
And sometimes, daytime can be a far scarier place than the night.
If none of that resonates with you, then you’ll want to steer clear of my work. Otherwise, you'll find plenty of greyscale in The Divided Region here:

But act quick before Trump decides to slap a tariff on digital goods.
