My books might have been written by a Martian

Get your tinfoil hat, because things are about to get deeply conspiratorial.

A couple of days ago, I shared my most-held AI predictions that had some of you agreeing, disagreeing, and outright accusing me of lying.

As I was reading these comments, I thought:

“If this is stirring up a bunch of replies, wait until they hear my thoughts on Mars.”

Cue your greatest conspiracy, Daniel-son:

(*clears throat*)

Ready?

Okay.

I believe that…

We didn’t originate from Earth.

Rather, we came from Mars.

Before you spit out your overpriced latte, a number of years ago (long before AI could create life-like images and Photoshop nerds could one-click generate any detail to a photo), some NASA satellite imagery leaked onto the Dark Web, which then trickled downstream into social media.

These images showed aerial shots of weathered pyramids, sphinxes, and a slew of other chipped structures caked in orange dust.

Maybe these images were the product of a basement dweller with Dorito-stained fingers trolling us all.

Or maybe… this is evidence of an ancient civilisation. 🤓

But in the spirit of conspiracies, let’s keep it unhinged and assume they were legit.

This would suggest that we once inhabited it and we are, indeed…

MARTIANS

Why we left is up for debate.

Perhaps Mars took the same beating our current home is taking with pollution, mass extinctions, and the felling of entire forests (I mean, we’d be a stupid species to ruin two planets, but hey ho.)

Or maybe that nasty scar running across one side of the Red Planet has something to do with our expulsion?

I’d lay my coin on the latter.

Given just how brutal a wound it is, it would have been a mass extinction event.

So what do I think our Martian ancestors did?

I believe they long knew of Earth and also knew it required little terraforming. So when they established the threat heading to Mars, they cleared out the dinosaurs with a weapon that packed the punch of a meteor and exported humanity onto Earth before Mars turned to dust.

“But, Daniel… that would require advanced tech and spacecraft we simply don’t have.”

Are you sure about that? 😏

We can debate that another day, but if you want more proof that we aren’t purpose-built for the planet we currently occupy, look no further than human babies.

They are the most delayed mammal to ever grace this rock.

Lions, horses, giraffes, dolphins, whales — they’re all up and moving within minutes, hours, or even seconds of taking their first breath.

Humans?

Seven to eight months if you’ve truly sired an athlete.

(Even monkeys and primates — our closest relatives — are crawling or climbing about after a month.)

So what gives?

Maybe our large brains are to blame for our sloth-like beginnings… or maybe, just maybe, Earth’s gravity is heavier than what we evolved for. 🤓

That’s my take anyway.

I don’t expect you to read it with a straight face, let alone believe it, but don’t let that stop you from writing in to let me know what you think.

Rest assured, my mind isn’t only capable of conjuring wild theories. It’s also proved to be quite capable of producing epic fantasy tales that bend (and occasionally break) genre norms, whilst also leaving plenty of room for conspiracies and those who conspire.

Speaking of conspiracies:

The biggest one that kicks off the story of The Divided Region can be found in Chapter 4 of Exiled.
