My baseless opinion on Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

I say baseless because I haven't read Fourth Wing and have no desire to – especially after happening upon a recent post in a hugely popular fantasy FB group (I lurk everywhere) that validated everything I suspected the book would be.

Laced with smut…

Graphic secks scenes (yes, that was an intentional misspelling – blame the spam filters)…

And almost zero plot.

Essentially, it’s an erotic romance novel set in a fantasy world and I must admit, hat tip to Rebecca Yarros.

Merging two of the biggest genres to ever grace the literary world is smart from a commercial perspective, BUT…

IT DIDN’T FOOL ME.

And I suspect many in my horde weren’t fooled by its exceptional covers either (unless they enjoy that type of thing. In which case, more power to you).

Fifty Shades of Sorcery just isn’t my bag.

I’m more of a “meat and potatoes” bloke when it comes to my fantasy in the sense that I don’t care about new-age lust or social dynamics. Rather, I prefer stories that are laden with rugged open worlds, high stakes, otherworldly fauna, bloody battles, loss, sacrifice, triumph, love (built on more than lust), bravery, and characters that think above their belt line.

If any of that rings true to you, too, then you might want to put Fourth Wing down and head on over to my Storehouse.

I have a very “meat and potatoes” series waiting to transport you to another world.
