I’m a stickler for routine, but that doesn’t mean I’m great at enforcing it.
I may be a storyteller; however, I’m also a human (as hard as that is to believe) and, like most mortals, I too have flaws.
I know, hard to believe, right?
But if I don’t cram in a bit of reading time, then it doesn’t matter how well my day is going, there will always be this voice in my head that whispers one word that gets under my skin:
“Failure.”
That voice?
That’s Dick.
And schedules really do help to silence Dick and his unruly ways.
After much experimentation, I’ve found that either first thing in the morning with a steaming hot coffee in my hand or the early evening are the best times to read fiction.
I’ve tried the whole read-before-sleep thing, only to gloss over sentences, forget what happened, and have to re-read it all the next day.
I know a few people find this works well for them.
For me, however, mornings and early evenings work a charm.
Even if I only cram in one chapter, it’s enough to hush little Dicky for another day.
Who knows, perhaps Dick (or his sister) pesters you too?
In any case, I have just the remedy for you should your Kindle be thirsty for fresh pages. It goes by the name The Divided Region, and it has a generously priced Starter Bundle that will keep your reading habit going for at least the next few weeks.
