The UK is now bracing itself for the fifth and final heatwave of the year.
And my God, it cannot come quickly enough.
Why?
Because your Overlord & Saviour has (finally) sourced an air conditioning unit!
And you can bet your last wattage that I'll be blasting this sucker over the coming days, much to the delight of our energy provider.
But do you know what?
I'm past caring.
We've suffered enough here at Watson HQ this year, and more importantly, I've got the seventh — and final — book of The Divided Region to finish.
This instalment alone is going to stretch me to my limits, so the last thing I need during this squeaky bum time is to be sweating like a pig in heat.
No way, José.
On the topic of A/C…
Did you know there have actually been studies done to compare the productivity of employees in offices with air conditioning and offices without it?
I only heard this a couple of months back.
Anyway, I'm sure you can guess how the line charts ended up looking.
The offices with air conditioning installed had, by far, the highest productivity.
Shocker, I know.
Who would have thought that when you're not hot and bothered, and your body isn't having to work overtime to regulate your temperature, that you end up with… well…
MORE ENERGY.
But that is indeed what the data shows.
So that's another reason why we went ahead and got the unit.
No candlelight vigils need to be held in our name this time, friend. Not this time. Though, I never begrudge a good shrine.
But if there's one thing we love in any weather — be that blistering summers or bone-chilling winters — it's good old-fashioned coin.
Oh my, I cannot get enough of it.
It fuels my caffeine addiction and (now) keeps me cool while the world around me burns in the flames of global warming.
However, I'm no grifter.
I believe in good, honest hard work and earning my coin with integrity (a dying attitude these days), so if you're in the market for a gritty epic fantasy that doesn't take you weeks to finish…
