I am quietly relieved by this, as there was a growing part of me that suspected there could be a contingent of Satanists lurking here in the Legion, given how pervasive they seem to be on social media.
Luckily, there are none here.
Or at least none brave enough to step forward.
I’ve always been up for satire and political poking, but rejoicing over a young man’s very public, very undignifying murder — with some now going to the extraordinary depths of moral oblivion to print T-shirts of his contorted face (I wish I were lying) — is simply too monstrous for me.
Nothing can help those animals except a priest and Holy water.
Hell (pun unintended), I’ve even dumped a friend I have known for 20+ years after having a heated exchange with them.
In any case, I’m glad this scourge isn’t haunting the shadows of this sanctuary…
OUR HOME.
We can now get back to the important business of escapism.
But I will say this:
It’s shocking events like the one that happened to Charlie, and the subsequent scum that rose to the surface, that almost always make me want to retreat into a fantasy world.
There’s a peace to be found in those pages.
An unbridled joy of getting to know the imperfect characters you’re tagging along with on their epic journey.
It’s always there to greet you on those darker days. Always there to expand your imagination when the mundanity of life tries to limit it. Always there to give you hope and perspective when your soul craves it most.
Fans of this genre know what I mean.
There is no other genre quite like it.
And these are but some of the things I set out to do in The Divided Region, which currently stands at five books (six, including the prequel) with at least a couple more to go.
I cannot tell you how it will end, for only Milo the Muse can determine that.
What I do know, however, is that it promises a wonderful journey for those who crave escape, world stakes, and characters that are neither totally good nor bad, but feel like old friends.
