9 of my favourite quotes from The Divided Region

A few weeks ago, something interesting happened.

I posted six of my favourite Lord of the Rings quotes on social media, and it quickly blew up to the tune of 120,000+ views, 10k likes, and thousands of shares and comments.

Did I demand Lady Laura call me Mr Virality from then on?

Nope.

Did I phone my mum to tell her I made it?

Nope.

I did something far more self-aggrandising:

I THOUGHT, HOW CAN I GO BIGGER?

Very quickly, I landed on an idea…

Why not share some of my favourite quotes from The Divided Region, and instead of sharing them to the Drifters online, divulge them to the people who would value the content most?

My Legionnaires.

I’ll admit, shortlisting just nine was a harder task than I initially envisioned, but for the sake of keeping this email an email, I had to cull most of the herd.

So, with no further ado, let’s dive in:

"To walk this life alone is far more painful than to lose people along the way.”
– Alysia (Chapter 15, The Great Betrayal)

“Regret is like an anchor, Rarkez. We must not let it hold us back from the task at hand. Instead, it should fuel our determination to see it through.”
– Alderan (Chapter 6, One True King)

“With respect, living one man’s lifetime is hard enough.”
– Darius
(Chapter 4, Exiled)

“It’s good to remember where we came from. It makes where we’re going all the more meaningful.”
– Alere
(Chapter 21, The Great Betrayal)

"I thought the guild was my prison, you know? In hindsight, I was wrong. It was my salvation."
Alere (Chapter 5, Forbidden Forest)

“Impatience is the enemy of reason.”
– Alderan (Chapter 13, One True King)

“Go forth and etch your name into the history books. May the gods watch over you and guide the way.”
– Robick (Chapter 18, One True King)

“I’ve been marching towards death my entire life.”
– Darius (Chapter 16, The Great Betrayal)

"You might be a prince, but I’m still calling you tittling.”
– Jangar (Chapter 5, Forbidden Forest)

Re-reading some of these brings a smile back to my face.

It’s like reliving old times with friends you haven’t spoken to in a while. It also makes me parched and thirsty to get back into the saddle of writing now that I’m back from vacay with la familia.

All good things indeed.

To read these quotes in the flesh (and the many more that didn’t make the cut this time), you can do so by bagging yourself the series in ebook, audiobook, or paperback here:
