It's been 3 days since St. Valentine cursed couples around the world for the 1,500th year in a row, and lo and behold…
People have forgotten about it already.
The same way we have with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and 90% of our New Year's resolutions.
I know — what a crotchety old git I'm fast becoming, but I am totally and unashamedly unapologetic about it.
(Can you tell our two little ones kept us up all night yet?)
I mean, why only make the effort with your significant other once a year when you can do it once a week, or once a month? Hell, if you're really love-struck… why not every day?
Then there's the predatory element of the day itself…
If you don't do anything, you're made to feel like a tightwad; a "terrible" partner for not coughing up the coin for flowers neither of you give two rips about, or for failing to blow an entire grocery haul at a restaurant that doesn't know a hearty portion if it hit their head chef in the bollocks.
By all means, treat your partner…
Serenade them…
Tell them all the things you're grateful for…
That's NOT what I'm disputing here.
I just don't like being socially manipulated to do things we should all be doing anyway, or else incur a dent in your social credit score.
No, thank you, St. Valentine.
Moving on…
While I might not engage with Valentine's Day, I do offer fun, fast-paced stories you can gobble down for a price that won't break your heart or wallet.
