Tomorrow I'll be contacting "Cold Subscribers" that my email service provider has flagged in my system.
These are Legionnaires who have supposedly not opened or clicked any of my emails in the last several weeks.
In other words…
TRAITORS.
(I jest… sort of.)
I usually don't trust these metrics as far as I can throw a rock made entirely from air for reasons I'll not bludgeon you with.
However, they do have their use cases.
If you've yet to experience your first Purge, here's the lore:
Every few months, I conduct a two-day purge to cut down the Legion's deadwood that hurts email deliverability and needlessly costs me coin. During these festivities — I mean, culls — I offer such "Cold Subscribers" a stay of execution if they simply:
– Click any link in my emails
– Or reply
It lets me know they are alive and well, and that the metrics have been falsifying their status (it happens).
And if they don't?
Well, let's just say the Legion's walls are mighty high and not many survive the fall. 41 perished in the last Purge, so let's see how many this one claims.
If you receive one of these special emails, fret not. Just follow the instructions, and you shall be spared.
