Old habits are like lard

I must fess up:

I completely forgot to send out an email for my newly anointed pilot series, Fun Fact Friday. Instead, I wrote for my The Divided Region addicts, which was by no means a poor substitute, but it does beg the question…

Is my heart and soul even in FFF?

The short answer is yes.

The slightly more poetic one is:

Old habits are like lard,
Easy to ply,
Not so easy to say bye-bye.

I know, I know. Step aside, Shakespeare, D.J.J. Watson is here with an almighty cheer!

Senseless scribing aside, let's sandwich this week with some fun facts you might just imbibe:

  1. Lightning can heat the air around it to about 50,000°F (27,700°C), which is roughly five times hotter than the surface of the Sun.
  2. You're about 1 cm taller in the morning than in the evening. Apparently, our good friend gravity compresses the cartilage in our spines and joints throughout the day.
  3. Honey never spoils. Archaeologists have found pots of honey in ancient Egyptian tombs that are still perfectly edible after more than 3,000 years.

While I don't doubt for a second these archaeologists know more than me, I personally wouldn't fight anyone who wanted the first spoon.

Would you?

Anyway, this has been Fun Fact Friday on a Monday, and I have been your exemplary daily host.

Should you enjoy my flavour of writing, you might just like the fantasy series that turns regular readers and listeners into mindless addicts.

I can't promise you won't be banging your knife and fork for more, but I do promise you an adventure that feels both familiar and completely fresh.

Quite the oxymoron.

Also quite true.
