I’ve been looking forward to this day all of last week.
The day I return to my writer’s corner to resume my eccentric (and occasionally cranky) existence after a week spent moving furniture, sleeving 100 wires, and undertaking tasks that, quite simply, no pedigree scribe has business doing.
But I am no pedigree author.
I don’t mind sunlight and (gasp) breaking a sweat.
Or, in last week’s case, my back.
As I write this email, I still cannot look down or to the right without pissing off some muscle cuddling my spine. Guess this is God’s way of saying, “You’re not twenty anymore, my boy.”
To which I say:
“Are my wrinkles that bad?”
In other news:
We’re edging closer to stocking paperbacks of my books at long last. For newcomers to the Legion, I’ve been weighing my options for the past several months as to what avenue to travel.
I could go down the Amazon route, earn pennies on the dollar and surrender yet more independence to Bezos.
I could use a popular printer that has amazing delivery in Europe, but the company cannot send itself a heart emoji in America to save their lives.
Then there’s fulfilling the orders myself, which, frankly, makes my back pain feel like a yoga retreat.
So what options do I have?
Two, to be precise.
Either I go with this other, more premium printer I’ve identified – praised for their deliverability across the globe – and give up a chunk of margin, or use a third-party company that handles it all for me for a handsome annual fee.
Choices, choices. 🤔
I’ve never been one to penny pinch when it comes to speed and quality, so unless a third option springs from the ether, I’ll be going with one of these two.
But be warned:
If you’re an Amazon Prime fiend (like my other half is) and aren’t used to waiting more than 47 minutes for a purchase to arrive on your doorstep, then don’t bother clearing space on your bookshelf for my wares.
You’ll be sorely disappointed, and quite frankly…
I do not fancy playing Customer Service Rep to 101 frantic “where is my order?” emails (another perk that comes with the third-party service, I might add).
If, however, Prime and TikTok haven’t turned you into an impatient zombie yet, and you don’t mind waiting a few days for a quality physical book, then watch this space, Legionnaire.
A new dawn beckons.
Until then, I proudly stock e-books you actually own (unlike at major book retailers) and digitally narrated audiobooks, which you cannot buy outside of my Storehouse.
