For the last week, Lady Laura and I have endured a pretty hellish time here at Watson HQ.
Long story short: the boys came down with a virus after a visit to a germ factory — I mean, soft play.
Liam, our resident toddler, shook it off quite quickly.
But Nathan?
Well, let's just say…
His 10-month honeymoon period on Earth had come to a fiery end.
For the past five days — right up until yesterday, really — his temp was pushing north of 39 degrees Celsius, which is quite alarming if you've never experienced your baby going through it before.
On top of that, he’s got an ingrown toenail.
Never a dull day here!
Luckily, this wasn't our first rodeo.
Long-time Legionnaires might recall the hair-raising time when Liam was unresponsive, and we had to rush him to the hospital, where (thankfully) he made a speedy recovery.
With that memory still fresh in our minds, we made sure Nathan was constantly hydrated and dosed up on all the correct meds.
This contained most of the fever's vicious symptoms.
Well, everything except for that small matter of sleep.
If you were unfortunate enough to cross paths with Lady Laura or me this past week, you would have thought we starred in The Walking Dead.
(Sorry, babe. Facts are facts. We looked like sh*t.)
Honestly, I feel like I've been living an out-of-body experience over the last several days.
I can just about remember what happened yesterday, let alone a week ago.
Oh wait, that's a lie.
There is something I remember from last week…
AMONG WOLVES was released to the world!
Admittedly, despite feeling pretty spent and crummy, the feedback trickling in from Patrons is lending some much-needed vigour to my weary frame.
Alas, I'm soldiering on.
I have to.
We've got emails to write, a series to wrap up, and people to entertain!
Speaking of the devil…
Today I'm printing and proofreading the outline for Book 7, which is 90% complete (and extremely exciting, by the way). Just a few more bits to fill in, and the words shall start spilling on the page with reckless abandon — especially as I've gone back to my tried-and-true outlining ways.
More to come on that.
