It's official:
England has crashed out of the World Cup.
I could launch a diatribe about how dirty Argentina played or lament our German coach for having us park the bus for the last 35 minutes of the game when we should have tried scoring another goal (conspiracy, perhaps?).
But what's the point?
It doesn't change squat. We're out, and that's that.
Besides, I'm so emotionally calloused at this point, from decades of failures, that it simply doesn't carry the same hangover it used to.
So yes, there was a sting of disappointment, but nothing a Honey Jack Daniel's on the rocks and a bit of Smooth Radio playing in the background didn't fix.
Besides, there's a lot to be optimistic about.
We are just one day away from the weekend…
The UK heatwave is finally loosening its grip on us miserable Brits…
And, most importantly…
We're just days away from the release date being announced for The Divided Region: Book 6.
It's going to be a busy last couple of weeks of the month, that's for sure.
But as a wise German coach once said:
"It wiltz be well worth itz, dear child. Just you votch!"
And it will.
Especially Chapters 2 and 3.
Oh my, they are going to cause some of you to spit out your beverages — just make sure it isn't hot. I will NOT be on the hook for any third-degree burns.
Anyway, I've got to badger Royal Mail and find out where in this scorched earth my author copy of Book 6 is located.
In the meantime, if you insist on feeling sorry for this Englishman, one thing that always brings a little twinkle to my eye is a good old book review for The Divided Region.
