I don't know whether the New Year buzz has already worn off or if I've created a maelstrom of contempt, but over the past few weeks, I've been inundated with emails and social media DMs asking this very question.
I suspect the latter, and I'll fully own it.
In truth, The Great Betrayal would have been published a couple of months ago if it hadn't fallen short of my standards on the first pass.
To add vinegar to the soufflé, ElevenLabs (the company I use to produce my audiobooks) rolled out some huge updates that I wanted The Great Betrayal to benefit from.
So whether standards fell or not, I would have reproduced it anyway.
