Happy New Year, Lords and Ladies.
We made it to 2026.
Just typing that feels weird, given I remember at the turn of the millennium thinking these were the sci-years. Well, in many ways, they are, given that self-driving cars are now more prevalent than ever… AI has become ever more commonplace… and we brace ourselves for an army of Tesla robots to be launched sometime this year.
Yet, it still takes many of us 24 hours to get to Australia.
Go figure.
I’d have thought we would have teleportation machines by now, but then, I suppose Big Airline wouldn’t approve.
Anyhoo, no doubt many of you have set yourselves goals for the coming year, and I’d love to hear about them.
More importantly…
I’d love to hear WHY you’re setting them.
But it wouldn’t be fun or fair for you to show me yours if I didn’t show you mine, and so, here are some of my personal goals for the coming year.
(Any mutters or laughter will be met with immediate exile.)
- Walk more
- Read more
- Move abroad
- Have more morning “quiet time”
So, Legionnaire, there’s mine.

I find myself with the rare luxury of free time today, so feel free to fire away.
