You see, without getting too technical, for every one Legionnaire NOT opening, reading, and engaging with my whimsical musings, it alerts my Email Service Provider (which I pay for) that my content isn’t relevant or, dare say, spammy, which then limits my email deliverability to those who DO engage with my daily antics.
A lose-lose situation all around.
ESPs do this mostly to protect themselves as the last thing they want is to get blacklisted by Gmail, Yahoo, and the like, which would inevitably cannibalise their business.
That’s why two days ago, I contacted “Cold Subscribers” and gave them something of an ultimatum.
Either click the link or reply to the email within 48 hours…
OR GET EJECTED FROM THE LEGION
Many regular viewers wrote in and clicked links just to make sure there were no accidental misfires.
Good move on their part.
After all, it has become something of a trope for tech to get it wrong occasionally.
Anyway.
With the deadline officially closed, I can now report that of the 17 people I contacted (yes, there are but a few that cannot get enough of my ramblings) 11 have been stripped of their Legionnaire status and exiled.
“Be gone, you!” I ordered.
No longer can you hurt one’s D-eliverability (😉) and that, my loyal disciple, is a win-win for us both.
That is why I carry out these quarterly purges.
Not because I am an egomaniac (though, there is a case for it). Not because I take my role as Overlord & Saviour seriously (I do). And not only because I get a kick out of ejecting Drifters from my World (the psychologists here need not worry… yet).
I do this to keep the Legion cleaner than a nun’s search history.
It ensures my emails continue to land in your inbox and gives you a fun/informative/entertaining 2-3-minute read every day.
But the entertainment need not stop here.
