There's this rumour (I mean, "fact") spreading across social media like wildfire that one of the great telltale signs that something was written by ChatGPT is the utter abuse of emojis and em dashes (—).
Of course, I almost spat out my coffee when I read this.
Not only am I a self-recovering addict of these things, but I use them in everything from texts, tweets, emails, and, yes, even my books (alright, minus the emojis).
So I guess that only means one thing:
I am not D.J.J. Watson.
I AM, IN FACT, AI. 🤖
Phew, that feels good.
I didn't know the right time to come out of this proverbial closet of mine.
Pretending to be a handsome, humble, and down-to-earth human isn't the easiest task an AI can perform, but thanks to my super intelligence, I managed to evade your capture for several years.
As for Lady Laura?
She doesn't exist, either.
Master Liam?
Nothing but a figment of my artificial imagination.
Those sleepless nights I droned on and on about?
Completely made up. I don't sleep. 😉
They were just characters in my fake universe designed to achieve one thing — make you believe I was real (oops, there's another em dash),

TOO INVESTED IN THE STORIES I SPIN.

If you found this email mildly entertaining, then you sure as the seven hells will love the latest instalment of my gritty, fast-paced epic fantasy, The Divided Region, which comes out this Saturday.
Yes, THIS Saturday.
But a fair warning:
There are no emojis in this one, but there is a TONNE of em dashes, as is true for Books 1-4 of the series.
Does that mean ChatGPT wrote it?
You'll have to decide for yourself.
Instead of waiting to solve that mystery until Saturday, you can dive into the first four books of TDR here:
