My microstory just went viral

Well, sort of.

In the first 24 hours alone, it has accrued over 13,000 plays, 1,500 likes, 80 comments, 130 shares, and 125 saves on TikTok.

“Look, Mum, I made it,” comes to mind.🤢

Needless to say, hello to all the new Liegelings who have discovered our little conclave because of that video. I’ve since had to turn off all notifications for the sake of my battery health and keeping Liam’s grubby hands off my phone.

I do not — I repeat, I do NOT — want a repeat of what he did to my MacBook Pro.

(RIP, Mackie-Moo.)

Anyway.

Instead of me telling you about the rush of dopamine that’s still coursing around my system, how about I just share the story that’s attracting all this fanfare?

But first, some shameless hype.

Here are just a few of the gushing comments I’ve received:

"this was legendary 🤣🤣"

"Best thing I’ve read in the last 5 month."

"Hey, I’d keep reading it and I don’t even fancy fantasy"

"and they said modern literature was bad!”

“this is the funniest shjt I've ever seen.”

“Makes you wonder if this is why some writers were such raging alcoholics 😅”

For context, the hook for this video was:

“Write drunk. Edit sober.”

Here was my take on it…

"What's your name?" the bar lady asked.

I squinted, holding my sandwich. "Everything and nothing," I belched "Name’s… Friblo the Mighty. Or was it…. Mitch? Anyway, I once tamed a dragon with a sock. Lost the sock. Kept the dragon. You ever kiss a banshee? I did. Twice. Also I stabbed a king. Accidentally. But he was being a bit rude."

"You killed a king?"

"Twice. No… that was the banshee."

I think it’s safe to say this will end up in Tiny Epics: Vol. 2 once I’ve compiled enough microstories to create a second volume.

For now, though, if you enjoyed the above story, you’ll probably enjoy the 141 others I have compiled in Tiny Epics: Vol. 1, which you can find right here:
