Am I bipolar?

One more question…

==========

Hi DJJ,

I’ve been a part of the Legion for the last two weeks and love getting your emails. (WAY different to every other author newsletter I’m subscribed to!) It might just be me , but over these past few days your emails seem different. Almost like someone else wrote them. They look and feel more high energy.

Not sure if this counts as a question 😂

And with a click of a button, she was banished. ❌

Just kidding.

While this doesn’t technically qualify as a question, that doesn’t mean there isn’t one embedded in her reply. If you look a little closer, you’ll see it.

And I’ll come out and answer it head-on…

No, I am not bipolar.

(Though Lady Laura believes there’s a case I might have split personality disorder.)

All said and spun, I’m glad this Legionnaire has been paying close attention to these emails because they have changed in recent days. For starters, I’ve been using subheadings to break up the text and peppering in way more emojis than I usually do.🧑‍🍳

But most importantly, over the past couple of days…

I’ve had more sleep.

Is Master Liam finally turning a corner?

Too early to call.

But after weeks of some of the lowest-scoring sleep my Garmin watch has ever recorded, I’m starting to feel (dare I say it) rested.

This is translating into better moods, funner writing, and extra fuel to power through the edits of Book #5 of The Divided Region, which I’m pleased to announce is nearing completion.

There is only a handful of chapters left to comb through and it’ll be shipped off to my proofreader.

More on that this coming week.

So that explains the sudden “shift” in these emails. I’m sure many more of you made similar observations from afar, but hat tip to the Legionnaire for (bravely) writing in to inquire. I can’t promise this energy will be sustained (Liam takes more than he bestows), nor that the subheadings and emojis will remain.

I’m always experimenting, always testing new ideas, as should be the case for all writers.

If you’re not evolving, you’re stagnating, and personally, I’ve never enjoyed the stench that comes with stagnation.

Then again, I’ve never enjoyed the “stench” of anything. 😷

(Oops, there goes another emoji.)

But one thing I DO enjoy is escaping into gritty fantasy worlds filled with characters who aren’t perfect and stories that are fast, emotionally testing, and unpredictable.

If that’s something you also enjoy, I have just the ticket for you:
