Amazon just killed an author’s book launch

It seems like not a day goes by without a self-published author getting stung by Amazon.

A few days ago, I read a post in a popular writing group about an author whose latest manuscript was rejected due to "quality issues" despite it being professionally edited.

To make matters worse, it was part of a series.

For some reason, Amazon hit them with the rejection hammer and is now refusing to let her publish the book.

She’s at a loss.

She doesn’t know what to do.

Fans are begging for the sequel, but she has no way to deliver it.

Stories like this always reinforce my decision NOT to rely on book retailers. It’s a controversial move. Some might even say foolish. But I sleep a whole lot easier knowing I never have to worry about a sequel I’ve spent months on getting rejected only to leave my readers with nothing.

A sad state of affairs, truly.

One I hope she is able to overcome soon.

On the topic of sequels:

Edits on Book #5 of The Divided Region have slowed to a crawl.

Any author will tell you that there’s always that “one chapter” that needs more work than the rest. I’ve hit mine. And, of course, I’ve also had a new idea that I know will make the book even better.

Before your heart goes limp, don’t worry…

This won’t delay the release.

It’s still on track for the next one to two months.

Until then, however, if you haven’t familiarised yourself with this gritty, fast-paced fantasy adventure, now’s a good time.

By the time Book #5 drops, the plot and characters will be fresh in your head.
