Is it Sunday already? 😵
I mean, I do love these #AskWatson segments, but even I’m a little blindsided at just how quickly the weeks are evaporating. Safe to say 2025 has come with the grease.
And so shall I.
Let’s dive right in:
============
How many books are in the series?
============
I presume this question is in regard to The Divided Region as my only other series is a supernatural thriller duology, The Curse of Abbey Ruins, so I’m going to answer it as such.
Currently, there are four books in the series (Exiled, Forbidden Forest, Last Alliance, and One True King) with Book #5 currently being edited. Some readers are curious to know what book this series will conclude on, and I can tell you this:
It’s looking increasingly likely that Book #6 is where the sun will set on TDR.
It will also likely be the longest book in the series to date (beating the current champ that is Book #5 at 100,000 words – which is already 2.5x longer than Exiled).
Hope that answers your question, Legionnaire.
Onto the next…
============
I havent looked much into this series yet, would this be okay to read to my 11 year old?
============
Definitely not.
While it’s far from the “darkest” gritty fantasy adventure, it does contain gruesome scenes and language only appropriate for adults — and sensible ones too. I say that because there are many “grown” (I use the term loosely) men and women walking among us who can’t be tickled without crying, "Assault."
Last question:
============
Hey, I’m new to the Legion. I really enjoyed your email about the snarler orc but im worried there’s a lot of lore I don’t know about. Do you have a file or web page that explains the Legion in more detail?
============
Probably my favourite question this week, and timely too.
Lady Laura (also a registered member of the Legion) mentioned the day I sent out the email in question that it might “confuse” new Liegelings. As ever it seems (sigh), she was right, and the above question confirms that.
To answer this email:
No, I don’t have any dedicated resources, but stay around long enough and you’ll soon pick up the lingo.
However, that said, tomorrow I am now inspired to send out an email that answers this very question in detail. And yes, I’ll be shamelessly calling it “The Lore of the Legion” (it has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?).
A definite must-read for new recruits and seasoned Legionnaires alike.
Until then, why not get yourself familiar with the lore of The Divided Region or my only published supernatural thriller duology? (I have more works that I’m looking to republish this year if demand warrants it.)
